In requesting admission to Oakwood University, I voluntarily agree, if admitted, to respect the principles and traditions the school upholds as a Seventh-day Adventist Institution of higher learning.

I will commit myself consistently to academic, spiritual, and social responsibility, as well as to personal and corporate accountability. I will follow the university bulletin's directions, addressing my academic program with honesty, integrity and excellence. I will promote the same conduct among my peers also. I will balance work, study and recreation with Sabbath rest and spiritual enrichment. I will show respect for all members of the university community, valuing their lives, property and surroundings, as well as showing appreciation for diversity and community service. I will avoid alcohol, tobacco, improper drug use and pre-marital sexual activities. I will become an active participant in the corporate life of the university, which includes financial obligations, program and class attendance, appropriate dress and decorum and fulfillment of my designated role as a residential community member.

Additionally, I authorize the release of information between Oakwood University and the high school or educational institutions attended and the respective staff of each, for the purpose of admissions, research, evaluation, financial assistance, student status and/or transfer opportunities. I also give permission for Oakwood University to use, in booklets or other promotions, any college photograph in which this applicant may appear and/or his/her name. All material submitted become the property of Oakwood University.
